Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in a Rescue Sprint?

A focused, senior-level diagnosis of a blocked release, unstable implementation, or difficult technical issue. I review architecture, deployment process, logs, recent changes, and high-risk customizations; interview up to three key team members; and reproduce and diagnose up to three named blockers. Where practical I fix one bounded blocker directly — otherwise you receive an implementation-ready remediation path.

Who actually does the work?

I do — Mike Rahel, personally. Refined Element is founder-led with no juniors and no handoffs: the same person who reviews your logs and architecture is the one who writes the diagnosis and, where applicable, makes the fix.

What do you need from me to start?

Read access to your architecture, deployment process, logs, and recent change history; availability of up to three key team members for interviews; and a clear description of the blocker(s) you want diagnosed. Exact access details are confirmed at kickoff.

What happens after I buy?

Payment confirms your slot. I kick off with you to gather the access and context above, then the sprint runs over the stated 2–5 business day window. You receive an executive diagnosis, evidence per finding, a prioritized recovery backlog, recommended owners, a 30-day stabilization sequence, and documentation for any completed fix.

What if my estate is bigger than the starting scope?

The starting scope covers up to three named blockers and up to three team interviews. If your situation needs more than that — additional blockers, more interviews, or production access beyond what's already been scoped — I'll flag it during kickoff and confirm any change in scope and fee with you before continuing. You're never billed beyond the agreed price without your agreement.

Is this a diagnosis only, or do you actually fix things?

Both are possible. Where a blocker is bounded enough to fix within the sprint, I fix it directly. Where it isn't, you get an implementation-ready remediation path instead — evidence-backed, prioritized, and ready to hand to your own team or another provider.

Do you require payment up front?

Yes. A sprint of this size and duration is paid in full to confirm the engagement before scheduling — there's no separate retainer or open-ended hourly arrangement.

Standalone value—no obligation to hire Refined Element for implementation.
